There might be a lesson here.
A while ago I replaced my brake pads on my mountain bike and opted for the cheap er generic ones 1/2 the price of the original ones. They worked fine until one of the pads came unglued from the backing plate, oops no brake. It is nice there are front & rear brakes.
When I was younger I would have continued to ride with only the rear brake until I got new pads but being older and sometimes wiser. I decided not to, I could visualise going down a hill and the rear coming unglued and having to bail.
